10 Signs That I Am Getting Old

  1. There was a day way back in teenage time that a new dishwasher would be no big deal and in fact it would be a "lame" thing to get excited about. Yesterday, I got a new dishwasher. Can I just say that I love it and am sooooo excited to have it in our home. Our old dish washer has definitely seen better days and has had a random leak in the door for about 2 1/2 years now. Sometimes it would leak, sometimes it wouldn't. Weird. Lately, it's been the flood of Noah in my kitchen and we finally decided that we were sick of it. Hallelujah the flood is over!
  2. Dating... You know you are getting old when part of your date includes going to the grocery store to pick up a few groceries. We did this a few weeks ago and saw like three other couples from our ward doing the same thing. Although it was really nice to shop with out the kids. I only had to say "no" to getting items a couple of times.
  3. To dye or not to dye? The gray hairs are taking over. There was a time when I could just pull those babies out (for some reason they are all in one spot so now I would have a bald spot), but I think I am getting to the point where I need something a little stronger to hide them. I think I might need to start dying my hair & I will have to make sure I get the kind of dye that has 100% gray coverage.
  4. Your not feeling well? I bet I have what you need! When I was younger I think I would have been sent to the principals office for the amount of medications I carry in my purse. What do you need? Tylenol? Ibuprofen? Excedrin? A bandaid? Allergy pill? Upset stomach? Well how about a Tums? Always be prepared right? What a minute... That sounded like my Mother.....
  5. I good time is pretty much anytime that I can take a break from the kids for an hour or so. Even if it's just to take a shower without worrying about what they are getting into when my back is turned. Like it says on the wall of a grungy old gas station bathroom, "For a good time call: a babysitter."
  6. I used to love rockin' out to music in the car with my friends, but lately I have been a fan of little to no music in the car. I finally understand my Father. When I was a teenager my parents used to say all the time, "That's not music, that's noise!" Now I totally understand why they felt that way. Don't get me wrong, I love rockin' out while I'm cleaning the house(another sign I'm getting old), but when I have my family trapped in the car I like to talk to them, not listen to some song on the radio. Unless it's an oldies station playing the eighties and nineties, but turned down low enough that I can talk to Bryan.
  7. I brag about how much I saved, not how much I spent. Oh I love a good deal. There was this time that I got $600 worth of storage drawers for about $70. Oh, And I saved 75% on all of my Sizzix stuff. I love this certain craft store because they always have a 40% off coupon for any one item. Who doesn't like a good deal? Right?
  8. Free time is spent cleaning/fixing our house. "Hey, what do you want to do this Saturday?" "I don't know... Let's tile the master bath." Or "We should totally clean the house from top to bottom!"
  9. My favorite place to window shop is The Home Depot. There have been several occasions when Bryan and I will go visit The Home Depot just to dream about what we would do in our house if we had the money. Aaaahhh.... Wouldn't those can lights be great in our family room... Ooooooo... Look at the door knobs. Wouldn't it be fun to replace all of the knobs in our house? Wow... Spackle.
  10. My reciept at the grocery store is sometimes taller than my youngest child. I remember as a teenager going grocery shopping with my Mom and being amazed at the length of her reciept. Who on Earth gets reciepts that long? I will tell you who, my Mom and Me!

Welcome to getting older!
