Just a question...

I really want to go natural on this baby and here is why...
1. Epidurals scare me
2. I want to be able to say that I did it
3. I want to have the perspective of both ways
4. It will cost me $1000 (and I can think of better ways to spend $1000)

Does anyone have any insight on this topic? My sister-in-law Ann told me to look into hypnobirthing, which I have been reading about the last few days. Am I crazy? I think I should have at least done a natural child birth class or something... I don't know. I might be crazy, but I do have fast deliveries. Grace was about two hours flat and two pushes. I feel like this pregnancy has gone a lot the same way as Grace's. My hips have been killing me which means they are getting nice and loose and ready to have a baby. Erik was about four hours and maybe four pushes. What do you think?

Hey Cindy, I had two babies without an epidural and two babies with. I would definitely go natural again. I really liked how much easier everything went after the birth, as well as being totally in control through the birth. Call me we can chat.

You know me... natural scares me and I have had incredilbe experiences with my epidural and my recovery, but you have not. I wish I could be brave enough to try for natural, but for me ...GIVE ME THE DRUGS! I think your awesome for doing it! I wish I could..but alas I would surely die!! You are a tough woman thought I am a weakling and not a pioneer for this very reason! Whatever your decision ..you are amazing! How are you feeling?

Wow Cindy! I admire you for thinking about going natural! I heard it's painful! But, would probably be best for you and the baby.

Good question, Cindy. Six of my seven births were naturals. At first I was proud of the fact I had done them that way. When I had my one and only epidural though, woo, I was converted! That was great!
However, I support your doing this one the old natural way. It's not that hard, really. It's the breathing, and the hand-holding with your husband that will get you through. I know they teach in the classes moms to use various brething tecniques. The only one of them I ever used was the slow, long, steady breathing. For some reason it really helps with pain, even when not in childbirth. So go for it, girl. You can do it!

Here is my take. Out of my 5, I had 1 natural....for the same reasons, but mostly just to say I did it. That was Delaney....needless to say, I had an epidural with Lucas. I didnt notice that my recovery was any different and, I must have had super good epidurals, I didnt have any lack of control, I felt what I needed to feel and was able to push well enough to get them out in a couple of pushes. Mostly, epidurals STOP THE PAIN! lol Totally worth it....of course, 1k also makes a BIG difference...

I think I will give it an honest try. See how the labor progresses and make a decision based on that. It seems like 5 to 10 cm goes pretty fast so if I can just make it through the first 5 maybe I can make it through the last five. Plus I have been reading a book that I think has some good suggestions. Some breathing techniques and a few relaxation methods. Mostly it's a lot of hippy, mystical stuff that kind of makes me question the validity of the whole book, but I do think there is some good stuff. I have been practicing some of it and I do get relaxed and fall asleep really fast. I don't know. I have just a few weeks to go so wish me luck!!!

You go girl. I think you can do it...I'm a whimp and never considered it. With Jaxon, I had them give the the 'good stuff' before I felt any pain. Kade had to be c-section, so I can't really give you any advice. Good luck!!
