Graham Aaron Adams

Ok, so I know that it's been over three weeks since I had him, but better late than never...
Born on Sunday June 7th, 2009 at a healthy 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long. I went into labor at about 2:15 a.m. I was having some small contractions then my water broke and I knew for sure that Graham was on his way. I let Bryan sleep for almost an hour before I woke him up. I wanted to let him sleep longer, but I wasn't sure how long it would take and we were at my Mom's house which is about 40 minutes away from my hospital. So I woke up Bryan and off we went to the hospital. We got there and I got all checked in and they checked me and I was only a 3 1/2. About an hour and a half or two hours later the contractions were what I thought was bad and I was only a 5 1/2. I about died. I was VERY tempted to go ahead and get an epidural but then I remembered that when I get to a 6 my labor usually goes really fast. So I decided to push through and just skip the epidural. From about 6 - 10 I would say that my definition of painful definately adjusted. It was really hard. It was reeeaaallllyyy painful. It was horrible. I had to take it one contraction at a time. Try to take deep breaths. And realize that it was too late for an epidural at this point. Oh well, I can do it right? About 4o long minutes later I started pushing. What a relief! It's funny how when you are in sooooo much pain, it feels so good to be in sooo much pain that isn't as painful and the pain you were feeling a few minutes before. Pushing was probably the surprise for me in this experience. It was nice to start pushing and it was harder than I thought it would be. Not more painful, but more difficult. I remember pushing and pushing and thinking yes! it's over!! I thought I had him out and the doctor says to me, "ok cindy, you got his head out. Now let's get him out the rest of the way." What!! That was only his head!? So a few more pushes and I had him. Boy what an experience! I am really glad that I did it. It's really fun to tell people how tough I was to go natural and now I know what both ways are like. I am really happy I did it. Would I ever do it again? Never! It is worth EVERY penny those epidural guys charge. Would I recommend doing it once? Yes! It was worth it. And when you have that baby in your arms the pain is easily forgotten and it's such a wonderful blessing to have that little guy in your arms.

Congrats! I feel the same way you do about those epidurials. It must be something about your 4th that makes you want to try natural! I did it with Delaney, and got an epidural with Lucas! Can't wait to see him!

Congrats Cindy. He's beautiful...love all the thick, dark hair. Hope you're feeling good. I'm happy for you that you sold your house, must be a big relief. I can't imagine moving when I just had a baby! Good luck.
